2010 was a big year for CumbriaVAG. With no idea how to do it, we decided to host our very own show. How hard could it be?!
After months of planning, begging, borrowing , but no stealing, we found ourselves stood in the grounds of Heaves Hotel, wondering if anyone was going to turn up. Earlier than expected, a few dedicated (mental) people began to arrive, quickly followed by the first club, followed again by a steady stream of people and their cars. They didn't stop arriving all day!
What transcribed turned out to be a roaring success, not only in our eyes, but in the eyes of the attendees and clubs. The feedback was brilliant, and we were moved at how well the show went down with people, especially the 'feel' of the show. We were after chilled-out, and it seems we got it. No rushing around, no panicking for anything, just arrive, clean and polish, have a sit-down and a chinwag, take in some sun, have a nosey round the other clubs, show and shine, traders and the hotel and grounds, and generally soak in the day.
Trophies were given out in the afternoon, in front of the house, for the best in many classes, and there were some world-class dubs that certainly deserved them. The standard was incredible, from a stunning 60's Splitscreen Camper that was immaculate, to a freshly re-trimmed Mk5 Golf, and everything in between.
No end of thanks goes to our main sponsors, Hadwins Volkwagen & Lakedistrict Audi, for helping us get off the ground, and making the show possible, not to mention bringing some fine new metal to poke around.
Here's a selection of pics taken on the day by our official photograper, Ian Wood (www.ianwoodphotography.com), who's kindly donated them to us.
Roll on CumbriaVAG 2011!
